"The Promise" (Short Story)

Her walking was melancholic, she let her medieval-like dress touch the wet asphalt... In her hand she is holding a white rose, which creates a perfect contrast with her black dress... The girdle began choking her, since she gave her maid the order to constrict it as much as possible so that it will prevent the tears from falling...
Six years have passed since then... Suddenly, in front of her, the magnificent harbor emerged. Here is where she saw him boarding on his royal ship and shouting at her, "I love you!"... She was only seventeen years old but still in marriageable age... They were already married for one year, fell in love at first sight, but his father didn't approve her... Everything had been done under wraps, secretly...
She remembered that she was angry with him cause he was leaving her alone all the time but, in fact, she was just sad. She cried all night in his arms while he comfortingly chucked her hair. He knew he was going to miss the touch of her hair between his long fingers... He tried to calm her and brought his body close to hers, while he slowly moved his lips from her neck to her mouth. The night passed with the two lovers becoming one once more...
No matter how tight the girdle was, it didn't stop her from crying out loud. And as she was staring at the vast sea she remembered that it was the sea that took him... "She" stole her soul mate... The girl let the rose roll down her hand, which landed on the bloodied sea... She whispered "I love you..." so that the spirit of her beloved, sleeping in the black waters, could hear it...
A child's hand grabbed hers while throwing a rose in the water... In the memory of his father...
