Sixx:A.M.

SIXX:A.M.

Sixx:A.M. is a hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2007 by Nikki Sixx, DJ Ashba, and James Michael, and is the side project of Sixx, who is also the bass guitarist for Mötley Crüe. The group is best known for their songs "Life Is Beautiful" and "Lies of the Beautiful People". The name Sixx:A.M. is a combination of all of the member's last names (Sixx, Ashba, Michael).

To date, Sixx:A.M. have released two studio albums; The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack (2007) and This Is Gonna Hurt (2011), and three EP's; X-Mas In Hell (2008); Live Is Beautiful (2008) and 7 (2011).

The band released The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack in 2007, which is based upon Sixx's autobiography, The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star.

The band made their live debut at Crash Mansion on July 16, 2007. They performed five songs from the album, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack. The album had no drummer, because lead singer/rhythm guitarist James Michael programmed all the drums. Due to this, there was some curiosity as to who would be playing drums for them live. Former Beautiful Creatures drummer Glen Sobel ended up playing on tour with the band.

On October 25, 2007, Sixx:A.M. played another show opening for Korn. At the time of this show Glen Sobel was on tour drumming with Elliott Yamin.

Originally the group stated they had no intention of touring. After constant support for the band and interest in a tour, they held a nationwide vote for tour dates. The tour was scheduled to start in spring 2008, but had been postponed to the summer due to unforeseeable circumstances.

On April 15, 2008, Sixx:A.M. announced they would be touring as part of Mötley Crüe's Crüe Fest, along with Buckcherry, Papa Roach and Trapt. The tour began on July 1, 2008, in West Palm Beach, Florida. During Crüe Fest, Papa Roach drummer Tony Palermo served as a touring drummer for the band. A deluxe tour edition of The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack was released on November 25, 2008, which included a bonus live EP entitled Live Is Beautiful which features recorded performances from the band's summer tour.

THE HEROIN DIARIES SOUNDTRACK
(2007)

The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, often referred to as simply The Heroin Diaries, is the debut studio album by Sixx:A.M., a side project of Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx. The band also features lead vocalist James Michael and current Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba. The concept album serves as the companion soundtrack to Sixx's autobiography, The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, and is about Sixx's severe heroin addiction in 1987. The first single, "Life Is Beautiful," debuted at #26 on the Billboard charts. Their second album This Is Gonna Hurt was released in 2011.

Designed to be an accompaniment to The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, the autobiography of Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx co-written by Sixx and Ian Gittens that details his severe heroin addiction in 1987, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack is a concept album that captures Sixx's basic story of his life during that time, although the album can stand alone. The story begins with the reasons for Sixx starting his diary, followed by his first (albeit temporary) abstinence from heroin, his relapse and mental and physical decline, his near-fatal overdose and out-of-body experience, and finally, his emotional recovery, which eventually led to long-term sobriety. The 13 tracks on the album each correspond to one month of his diary, which he kept from December 1986 to December 1987. Because a story is told, the album is best understood by listening to the tracks in their original order.

The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, noted by many for showcasing a more emotional sound than, and a musical departure from, Sixx's other band, Mötley Crüe, has been received very positively. Jim Kaz of IGN, praising the emotional lyrics of the album, called it "not really an album but rather a musical book, it is almost impossible to recommend any specific songs over others."

THIS IS GONNA HURT
(2011)

This Is Gonna Hurt is the second studio album by Sixx:A.M., a side project of Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx, released on May 3, 2011. The band also features lead vocalist James Michael and current Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba. This is after the release of their debut album The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack in 2007. Like the first album which served as a companion soundtrack to Nikki Sixx' first book The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, this album is a companion to the book of the same name, Sixx's second book, which was released on April 12, 2011.

Eddie Trunk's internet blog has announced that the lead single from the album will be called "Lies of the Beautiful People" and was released on March 1, 2011. On February 15, 2011, it was announced that the music video for the first single "Lies of the Beautiful People" will premiere on Nikki's radio show website Sixx Sense on February 16, 2011, 12:00AM ET / 9:00PM CT, though the single will still go on sale on March 1. The album is set to follow on May 10, 2011, after being pushed back from a March 22, 2011, release date.

This Is Gonna Hurt debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200, selling 30,000 copies in its first week of release.

This Is Gonna Hurt debuted also at number 1 on the Hard Rock Charts (to find on billboard.com).

It was announced in August that the title track would be released as the next single due to the song winning an online poll where the fans chose the next single, the music video for the song was released the same month.

And now guys enjoy the perfect art of Sixx:A.M.:
